Lunch Programme

  • This was historically born from the idea to encourage the team to spend time together during lunchtimes when we were all in the same office. We used to subsidise everybody’s meals.

  • Now we are a distributed remote-first company, so this policy has evolved a little. And it’s morphed into a cash-equivalent perk. The amount we pay out today, is anchored to the cash value of what this perk used to be (~18 workdays per month @ 75% uptake rate of going out with colleagues for lunch @ 4.40 EUR subsidy =~ 60 EUR/mo), as well as what the law in Croatia allows (5000 HRK/yr ~= 55.30 EUR/mo).

  • This is not intended as a tax optimisation, or a way to pay out part of your salary in a tax free way. We aim to pay fair market salaries, and this is a little extra on-top.

Implementation in Austria
  • We do this using Pluxee, where we deposit 60 EUR/mo into your Pluxee account (see below).

  • You get a Pluxee card/app when you join 9Y. More on the “How To” below

  • You can spend this money at participating restaurants and shops (no limits on when, where, how or why).

Implementation in Croatia
  • Team members get this paid out on a monthly basis as part of their salary. The amount is 55.30 EUR/mo.

Pluxee readme
  • You need to download the Pluxee app on your phone and register.

  • When you are a new member to Pluxee, you will get an email with login access from Pluxee.

  • The e-mail will contain your access codes that lets you login to the app.

  • Once logged in, you will have the overview of your card and balance.

  • You will need to add the card to your virtual wallet.

    • That said, you can only use this where they accept card payments (no-no to cash only).

    • You will be able to see your balance at any time.

    • You will also see your purchase history.

    • The map under the “Explore” on the bottom navigation will show you where you can use Pluxee virtual cards

    • In each month, your account is topped up with the same value by HoP

    • For FAQ section in general - you can navigate to your profile icon on the upper left corner in the app and click on “Get Help”

      • you will see an extensive list that covers a lot of questions that could be useful for first timers
