Hardware Policy

9Y’s hardware policy is: "great standard equipment, acknowledge custom wishes".

If you would like to work on non-standard hardware, e.g. a mechanical keyboard, a trackpad instead of a mouse, an ultrawide monitor, etc. then please ask. We believe that people should work on the devices which make them most productive.

Examples of common customisations

Some custom hardware configs that our team members enjoy, that depart from the above standard configs:

  • German keyboard layout

  • a mechanical keyboard

  • an individual mouse, e.g. the MX Master

  • an ultrawide monitor

  • dual monitors

  • a wireless trackpad instead of a mouse

  • a "low quality" reference monitor for design proofing

  • a laptop with pen input and LTE connectivity
